I asked people I met this question today. "Why do people smile when they take a picture?"

Why do people people smile when they take a picture
Why can't they frown or be unhappy
Why must only the happy and cheerful moments be perfect candid shots
Why must people put on a false front, a facade when they stand or sit in front of the camera
If a picture paints a thousand words, then I think pictures are painting a mere mirage of reality

People exist for mutual benefit
People say things they think will help them blend in with the crowd
People do things to conform with the majority
People want to feel accepted
Yet people do not be who they really are

Why do people smile when they take a picture?
